For Passengers


If you decided to travel with your pet, you should inform the airline (dispatcher during booking or purchase of the air ticket) thereof not later than 36 hours before the flight as pets are carried only by consent of the airline and there are restrictions related to a number and kinds of carried pets.

The airline accepts dogs, cats, birds and other small house (tamed) pets/birds, as well as service dogs of Federal Executive Authorities’ Canine Service, with payment by baggage fares (regardless of other passenger’s things carried as a baggage). We do not accept brachycephalic dog breeds* (only on joint flights with Aeroflot PJSC), sick and laboratory animals/birds, reptiles, rodents, insects, fish and fish seed as well as other marine and river animals requiring carriage in water. We also do not accept livestock, wild animals, vermin and bees.

*dogs with a shortened foreface (short and flat face): Bulldog (British, French, American), Pug, Pekinese, Shih Tzu, Boxer, Griffon (Belgian, Brussels), Boston Terrier, Dogue de Bordeaux, Japanese Chin.

Pets or birds can only be carried by adult capable passengers.
To prepare your pet for a flight, please consult a vet.

Pets in Cabin

Several pets can be carried in one container/cage if their total weight together with the cage is 8 kg or less and the size of container/cage does not exceed 115 cm in combined three dimensions (length 55 cm, width 40 cm, height 20 cm). One passenger can carry only one cage onboard a plane.

Pets are accepted in a passenger cabin only in a special container or special pet carrier. The container or pet carrier should have sufficient space, ventilation ports and a secure locking device to prevent spontaneous opening.

The container or pet carrier floor should be solid, waterproof and covered with non-toxic absorbing material. The container or carrier design must exclude spilling of the absorbing material.

Birds are accepted in cages. The cage should be covered with thick cloth to prevent penetration of light in it during the flight, and have a locking device to prevent spontaneous opening of the cage.

Cages, containers (pet carriers) on board an air craft cannot be placed at emergency exits, in way of evacuation routes, and also disturb other passengers’ comfort or hinder servicing.

During take-off, landing and passing through turbulence zones, cages, containers (pet carriers) should be safely placed under the seat in front of you or where a flight attendant requires.
It is prohibited to take out your bird or pet from container while in the cabin.

Passengers traveling with pets/birds are not provided with emergency exit seats and seats in the front row of the Economy cabin in front of a hard partition of the passenger cabin.

Pets in Cargo Hold

If the total weight of your pet and the container/cage exceeds 8 kg or the size of the container/cage exceeds 115 cm in combined three dimensions (length 55 cm, width 40 cm, height 20 cm), it can only travel in a cargo hold.

When traveling in a cargo hold, only one pet can be carried in container/cage

The owner of the pet or the bird should use for carriage a container/cage, the design and material of which protects the pet or the bird from getting injured during transportation:

  • container should be made of impact-proof hard material. Containers completely made of welded mesh or wire-mesh reinforcement, are not accepted;
  • the container should be large enough for the pet to stand, turn around 360 degrees and lie down in a natural pose;
  • the floor must be solid, waterproof and covered with an absorbing non-toxic material. The container floor design must exclude spilling of the absorbing material;
  • the roof should be solid. There must be ventilation ports/grills at the top of the sides of the container to provide for air access;
  • the door should be securely attached to the container so that the pet could not break it in;
  • the door mesh size must not exceed 25х25 mm, so that your pet could not get its nose, paws or tail in it;
  • the container should have a secure lock to prevent spontaneous door opening, opening by pet, or unauthorized access to the pet in flight;
  • the inner surface of the container should be smooth and rounded so as not to injure your pet during transportation;
  • container should be fitted with handles so that two movers could lift and carry it;
  • if the container has wheels, they should be removed or fixed in place during the transportation;
  • Dogs of aggressive or fighting breeds are only accepted in containers of a strengthened design:
  • the container door should be metal, smooth;
  • upper and lower parts of the collapsible container must be bolted together with metal bolts and nuts.

Only pets whose weight together with the container/cage is 50 kg or less can be carried as a baggage. For more information, please ask when booking your flight.

Please note that if you need your pet to travel in the cargo hold, you have to arrive at the check-in reasonably in advance.
Traveling with Pets (Birds) by DHC-6

Carriage of house animals (dogs, cats, birds) and service dogs by DHC-6 in the cabin or cargo hold is only allowed upon prior agreement with an Airline representative in Vladivostok Airport and passenger’s consent with carriage conditions.

In order to travel in the cabin, your pet (bird) must weigh, together with the container/cage, not more than 8 kg, and the container/cage size must not exceed 115 cm in combined three dimensions (length 55 cm, width 40 cm, height 20 cm).
In order to be carried in the cargo hold, the pet’s (bird’s) weight, together with the container (cage) must not exceed 50 kg, and the size of the container (cage) must not be over 230 cm in combined three dimensions (length 90 cm, width 60 cm, height 80 cm).
Traveling with Guide Dogs

To travel with a dog accompanying a disabled person, it is necessary to provide a document confirming dog’s special training and a document confirming passenger’s disability. Such trip should be approved not later than 36 hours prior to the departure time specified in the schedule. A guide dog accompanying a passenger with disabilities can travel free of charge without a container in passenger cabin provided it has a collar, a muzzle and is tied to the seat at the feet of the passenger it is accompanying.

Pets whose Weight including Container Exceeds 50 kg, Exotic and Other Animals

To transport pets whose weight including container is over 50 kg, as well as exotic and other animals please contact your air cargo transportation agent.

Pet Transportation Fare

On Aeroflot codeshare flights under SU code by Aurora Airline, pet/bird transportation is not included in the free baggage allowance and is charged for as non-standard baggage.

On international, inter- and intraregional Aurora Airline flights under HZ code, payment for carriage of house pets and birds is calculated at the second baggage piece rate (regardless of the total number of baggage pieces of passengers, including pets, and of the service class). Additional payment will be required if the size and/or weight of the pet with the cage exceeds standard weight and size requirements for one piece of baggage.

If the standard weight and size requirements for one piece of baggage are exceeded when pets are transported, the total fare will be the sum of relevant baggage rates for payment of excess checked baggage.

Payment is made for each container/cage.

Only guide dogs accompanying their owners in the flight can travel for free.

Documents for Pet Transportation

Pet or bird owners are responsible for compliance with the legislation of the country, to, from or through which they are traveling. Make sure you can furnish all necessary documents as provided by the legislation of the Russian Federation, international agreements and laws of the country, to, from or through which you are traveling.

Please note that there are special pet rules for a number of countries. We recommend you contact embassies of the country of origin and country of arrival to inquire about pets and birds travel rules.

Pets are accepted for flight if the following documents are available:
  • certificate issued by a competent state authority:
  • in case of an international travel: international veterinary certificate Form 5a;
  • for domestic flights: veterinary certificate Form No. 1, valid within 5 days from issuance and to the beginning of travel;
  • any other documents as may be required by veterinary authorities of any country, to, from or through which you are traveling.

Additional Information:

Passenger bears full responsibility for the pet/bird, availability and compliance of required permits and certificates.
The airline is not responsible for injuries, loss, delay, sickness or death of the pet/bird in case it was refused entry in or transfer through any country, state or region, unless this resulted from willful illegal acts or gross negligence of the airline.
